CHRYSTON AND DISTRICT CREDIT UNION
CREDIT UNION HISTORY
Chryston & District Credit Union was started by a group of 10 volunteers in 1987 that ran a small lottery each month to enable them to get the funds to register the Credit Union. The Credit Union was registered on the 14th October 1988 and operated from the Pivot Community Centre in Moodiesburn.
As the credit union grew we acquired premises from North Lanarkshire Council in the form of portacabins within the council compound. We also opened a collection point in Chilterns Muirhead and then another collection point in Cardowan.
The Credit Union is governed by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) and the PRA (Prudential Regulation Authority) the credit unions are affiliated to governing bodies set up by the credit union movement. Chryston & District Credit Union Limited is members of UKCU (United Kingdom Credit Unions).
At present the Credit Union has approximately 1200 members with an age range from birth to over 80.
